Prolonging effect in the prevention and treatment of infections
COLIMIXIN – a complex of antibacterial preparation for oral use, which is composed of lincomycin and colistin. The components of this preparation do not interact directly with each other, but complement and broaden the spectrum of antimicrobial action. Lincomycin refers to a group of bacteriostatic agents of rapid action while colistin is bactericidal. It is known that bactericidal antibiotics should not be combined with bacteriostatic to determine whether the lack of sensitivity in the study of the antagonism of pathogens in the experiment in vitro. On the other hand it is known that polymyxins, which include colistin, are equally active against both to dividing bacteria and bacteria in rest, which makes it possible to combine them with bacteriostatic agents does not result in an antagonistic effect.
